there are parts of my process or my practice or w/e you wanna call it that are actually pretty important but idk how to talk about them. one is a move that is like “allowing the body to do what it wants” and that’s where all the shaking and hyperventilating come from
Conversation
my brother has been practicing modern clowning (yes it's a thing) and this was a key aspect of it

Wow this is the first time I've ever thought about that crossover, and I listen to enough comedy related podcasts to hear people talk about clowning a *lot*.
I'm surprised clowning isn't talked about more often in these kind of conversations, seems like people would be into it.

we have some resident clowns i just tagged into the convo but it is true that the clown discourse hasn’t been happening lately lol. does seem like a lot of crossover tho. honestly there’s kinda just one Thing
well depending on how you define clown you can make a pretty strong case that standup comedy is a subset of clown: just with no makeup and very talkey

the main big thing about clown performance is that it's all about direct address, and forming a sort of back and forth attention between the performer and the audience. contrast with acting, which is contained within a fourth wall.
