i can't answer this question in any real way because if a woman is interested in me and i didn't notice then i usually don't know that that happened! i could be missing these all the time and if no one tells me i'd be none the wiser
but i have heard one or two times like a year or two after the fact "yeah, that woman who wanted to know if you wanted to grab tea was interested in you and asking you on a date" so apparently i do miss these. i think i'd be better at it now but who knows

false positives are discoverable (if you act on them), false negatives not so much (unless you hit on every girl regardless of her seeming interest)

also you tamper with the results by hitting on the girl
let's say you think a girl is interested (she's not), you start flirting with her, and you're doing such a good job that she *becomes* interested
you'd never realize you had a false positive

have you ever read your high school year book? I got multiple "parting confessions" from girls who wrote "I had the biggest crush on you" and thought "dang, too bad she wrote it in the past tense, wish I'd known earlier"
(In retrospect, the crush might still have been active)
