actually i have a very specific example and it's not romantic either: i have a friend i sort of stopped talking to halfway through lockdown and it's b/c their life was getting so much better than mine that i was overcome by shame thinking about them
and i wasn't able to work up the courage to get back in touch with them until i'd worked through some of that shame first. they were really glad i did and said they'd missed me and i cried 🥲

Yes, I'm imagining the conversation was difficult (but he says it took working up courage, so it's perhaps implied)
