i would've been interested to see a gender split here, i would guess off the top of my head that women would care more about having more space than men (for kids if nothing else) but idk

also depends heavily on whether you're buying or building existing buildings will typically have absolute garbage layout and waste space like crazy, so a 1100 sqft place will seem tight for a family of 4 if you're building, i'm convinced you can make it work fine

Just speaking for me—I like having space for kids, but if it meant I would have to work instead of staying home with my kids, then I’m out. And time (hours, days, or years) that Will isn’t working a huge is a huge win from my perspective too, including for raising kids!
