TLP was maybe one of the smartest cultural critics writing when the blogosphere was still the hot new thing
He had a wonderful talent for spotting and explaining the dynamics of pathological narcissism, especially as it played out in the media and people's interactions with it

A fair critique but I think he mostly trained his guns on excessive cases

yeah perhaps if a new reader reads him now they’ll come away kind of excessively judgmental of narcissism. narcissism doesn’t have to be this extra bad thing like you say
