PSA: if you feel like you get more notifications than you can handle, or more annoying notifications from randos than you want to read, there are a bunch of mute options and i have them all enabled and it's great. go to settings -> notifications -> filters -> muted notifications

I'm starting to feel like Twitter is becoming a bad influence on my mental health. I'm not sure what to do about it cause I don't want to quit, but I might completely stop checking mentions for a month as an experiment. idfk how ppl with more followers than me handle it

this does mean i occasionally miss out on totally innocent replies from people i happen not to follow which is sad, but 1) i sometimes check replies manually, and 2) if one of my follows interacts with such a reply then i do see *that*. tradeoff's worth it for me

previous tweet about how to set up custom chrome search engines for twitter searches. huge upgrade to my ability to thread. i have a general search and then searches for specifically my tweets, visa's tweets, a few other people

you seriously will not understand how much better having custom search engines for tweets makes twitter until you use them long enough to search reflexively w/o thinking. in chrome go to settings -> manage search engines -> add, then add a search engine like this

bro turning off notifications from anybody i'm not following has both vastly increased the quality of feeling i have on twitter and reduced the amount of time i feel inclined to spend on twitter, thanks @QiaochuYuan for suggesting it
