before lastpass's automatic password generation made this sort of thing unnecessary i used to generate passwords by taking some significant word or phrase and running them through an md5 hash 20 times in a row, then picking my favorite string of digits from those hashes

the idea was that if i ever forgot the password i could just rerun the hashing procedure but actually i never once needed to do this and now i've forgotten what the seed phrases were anyway but i still remember the digits ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

anyway there's apparently a credential stuffing attack happening against lastpass, on the off chance that your lastpass master password is a password you've ever used anywhere else now would be a good time to change it
