this is particularly powerful for me as i have a negative association with those two neurotransmitters (even tho I'm sure i don't actually understand what they do) b/c of being prescribed drugs as child that caused my levels of them to be painfully high

i assume both serotonin and perhaps oxytocin play a role here, especially if metta is ur on-ramp to jhanna

Personally I find jhana 1 to be sexual if I intend/frame it to be, especially when I try and burn sexual desire as fuel towards desire for jhannic pleasure

this reminds me of an experience i had two summers ago that i thought might be jhana 1 and was indeed very sexual, almost but not quite overwhelmingly so
