personally all of my best jokes come from things i sincerely believe. humor and truth are great pals, they’re not opposed at all. what might be opposed are humor and ideology 🧐🧐🧐

A good quote I did not know of reflecting on a valuable principle. Thanks for that! Tbc I do know who Lenny Bruce is, but not this quote. I also like "If you speak the truth, then have a foot in the stirrup" (attr: Turkish proverb according to CIV 5[?])

In the western tradition, “joking” vs “serious” is closely associated with “ironic” vs “sincere”, as irony is a major device in classical comedy. The “tragicomedy” where we’re allowed to be sincere but comical is a 17th century innovation.
