i'm fascinated by conversations about the matrix because i was there from the beginning. i was a 9yo nerd when it first came out. I remember how novel and strange and exciting it felt to me, and to the people around me. maybe not so much to older nerds of the deep lore...
Conversation
maybe it was just the timing for me – it felt like the matrix really changed something in the world. I didn't watch The Truman Show until very recently (interesting that it came out just a year before), nobody discussed it in Singapore. but The Matrix was everywhere

and the fact that things like Bullet Time started showing up in other media made it feel *really*... what's the word... "intrusive"? omnipresent? like it was truly permeating everything, echoing through all media, through all thought. and this was before social media!
