I don't think anybody ever told me that writing fiction would be a tremendous way of managing all of the information you're interested in, in an incredibly elegant, powerful, memorable way

sometimes when i read fiction i can really see where the author just crammed a bunch of tweets in that they'd obviously been burning to set down in writing somewhere but twitter didn't exist yet
if the author goes light on the editing, you can catch the shift in tone. Stephen King has passages that are obviously ripped from a journal and shoved into whatever novel needed word count at the time.
