one thing i lowkey like about anime is the way they have this archetype of the popular high school guy / girl who is good in all the ways: smart, attractive, good at sports, there's no sense that these qualities have to trade off against each other

in american pop culture the deal is like... not sure how to articulate but you're supposed to only have one thing. your thing might be math or physics or basketball or chess or being hot but you're only supposed to have one. for some reason
