And as always when I have major updates, causes me to wonder “What is your best estimate of how many fields of human endeavor are three orders of magnitude less efficient than possible with current technology contingent on basically one executive caring about that improvement.”

also the part that is like "obviously we can't just easily solve our problems because we instituted rules preventing ourselves from taking the relevant actions and what if we get in trouble with ourselves for breaking those rules"

Mistake I've made many times: seeing someone with a simple problem and thinking "not to worry, this just needs a quick fix and they'll be on their way!" instead of "what level of hidden dysfunction is keeping even this simple problem unsolved?"
