And as always when I have major updates, causes me to wonder “What is your best estimate of how many fields of human endeavor are three orders of magnitude less efficient than possible with current technology contingent on basically one executive caring about that improvement.”

i think there are some interesting parallels between an incompetent and sclerotic bureaucracy and a depressed person. including the part that is like "obviously we can't just easily solve our problems because that would look deeply embarrassing"

also the part that is like "obviously we can't just easily solve our problems because we instituted rules preventing ourselves from taking the relevant actions and what if we get in trouble with ourselves for breaking those rules"

Ha! I loved the boatride story when I 1st read Petersen's🧵--but when I thought more, cldnt figure out why he needed to do the 3 hr port ride to figure out to stack containers. Esp when ppl already knew trucker shortage was bottleneck. A crafty strategy! And got the buyin. 👍
