kinda wondering if people just don’t interpret dystopian fiction as a warning anymore, especially in TV or movie form. it’s the same issue as with war movies that try to show how war is hell: they make it look too good

i don’t think wolf of wall st was ever seriously intended as a warning, it quite obviously makes the whole thing look like boatloads of fun. as much as i enjoyed it, maybe it should not have been legal to make that movie
