For those who meditate, what is the most interesting thing you discovered in the process?

sitting still and quiet in a room full of other people doing the same thing makes me feel like i’m being punished because i was punished that way in kindergarten

FWIW most my weariness about meditating in any kind of social context is also school related (though for different reasons, not punishment).
