people use βattachmentβ to mean like at least 3 different things here or more, thereβs a real lack of more precise terminology, and thatβs before getting into the subtleties of translating pali or whatever
so in the buddhist context i feel like people can either use it to refer to more like clinging / grasping / craving (tanha?) or sometimes use it to refer to all strong desires or something (not a fan of this second usage)
in the relationship context it depends on how much attachment theory youβre familiar with i guess, you could use it to refer informally to strong desire, or to clinging / grasping / craving, or just to the normal activation of the attachment system. so thatβs like 3-5 meanings
it is probably healthy to learn how to integrate / dissolve tanha in a relationship context much like any other context, and i think thatβs quite different from like, trying to dismantle the attachment system, or trying to avoid strong desires for others
