Follow accounts that tweet about your interests but are not heavily polarised politically in either direction (if your interest is politics, you’re screwed). Build up a core of ‘nice’ accounts as a backbone of your feed this way. Then, add people with opinions sparingly.

"With a little introspection, Twitter can be a tool for self-inquiry, making friends, testing ideas, messing around, finding information, practicing speech, and pretty much anything you like. It’s also, like everything else, just a game. Have fun!"

Have at least 1 buddy who you want to be on twitter to see more of their world Don't feel bad about blocking, Twitter loves to show you shit that makes you uselessly mad and you need to use the tools. Don't try to tease people as the first interaction you have with them.

The timeline is a mirror that shows you more of what you are looking at. Following someone is an intimate thing, because their tweets become your own thoughts. Curate follows carefully. Unfollowing is as reasonable as not dating everyone you meet. twitter.com/QiaochuYuan/st
