just used a papery straw at the local food court for the first time. unusable 2/3rds of the way through my drink. i cannot believe this thing passed any kind of sane quality control testing 🤔

Frustrating that we really just don’t have good materials for straws other than that one shitty plastic. Even bioplastics tend to be too brittle or don’t deform enough

I tried a pasta straw recently. Literally raw pasta in a tube shape. Worked pretty well. No taste, didn't fall apart. Unsure if it actually makes any sense considering we can eat this material though.
