as body experiences i’m not sure i can tell the difference between “cringe” and “shivers down my spine”
Conversation
maybe i do both simultaneously sometimes and it confused me on the labeling 🤔

woah, I think of these as entirely different experiences
cringe is contracting, tight, diminishing
shivers are much more open, vulnerable, effervescent feeling

there’s like a shivery feeling i sometimes feel when i watch - idk exactly how to label it but e.g. certain kinds of rhyming singing - that i used to think was cringing at overearnestness but now i think i was actually touched and then also embarrassed by that, or something

To me this is describing cringe feeling
“Shivers down spine” is like the 6th sense terror-feeling you get when you generally sense someone wants to wear your skin
Shivers without “down spine” can be other things too, including a good feeling

It’s interesting to me that cringe touches on something visceral, an almost uncontrollable reaction
And shivers do the exact same thing, but in a pleasant way?
