after giving birth you're immediately dumped into a postpartum unit where everyone is much less accommodating and neither you nor your partner are able to sleep well

For our second kid we had a miracle of a nurse that basically just barred the door and didn't let anyone come in for 8 hours every night and it was amazing. I've never felt so advocated for by anyone in a hospital like I did then.
