ha i actually had in mind the burrito's end of the story but that also works. like the ingredients being grown and the truckers shipping them across the country and stuff

idk if you've seen The Good Place but there's a bit from there about how the world is so complicated now and that makes moral action so much harder that feels relevant here

i think when people say that they have this sort of maximally clean and pure conception of ethics that just isn't feasible. a conception of ethics according to which ethical action is impossible is useless (which is part of the point The Good Place was trying to make i think)

like yeah some worker might be being exploited and that sucks. does that mean you're ethically complicit if you participate in paying them? are they really better off if you *don't* do that? is it up to you to decide *for them* whether they get to make money by being exploited?
