how do you work with the fact that some people just doesn't seem like they want to have agency. not that they dont have them, but that they dont want or is actively fighting against them?

this is not flippant, i’ve given up on people myself and it sucked and i still think it was the right call. you can’t force people to change. they have to want it. if they don’t…

Or give up on desiring them to change. There are some relationships (family) that are probably more meaningful than simply exiting because of their lack of belief in agency. Although I would hazard to perhaps try a few vectors here first before that.
