guys i'm sheltered but not that sheltered i know what blackberries look like, wanted to know if 1) there were any like dumb idiot's false blackberries i should know about and 2) if the red coloring means it's not ripe or something else

anyway i ate two of the black ones and i'm still alive so that's pretty good. i like that they're smaller, tastes like the flavor gets more concentrated that way

Unrelated but my mom grows this beautifully weird kind of pink-orange raspberry – they taste exactly like delicious ripe peaches, but in raspberry form – and this post reminds me how much I want to grow some of my own eventually

Those are good to eat for sure but technically I think they're invasive himalayaberries, native California blackberries are kinda hard to find and tend to have less burly thorns and stems.

lmao people calling you sheltered for asking about berries like they don't google whether they can eat one day expired eggs.
leave my boy alone.

fyi most black/blue berries are edible, most white berries are poisonous, and red ones are 50/50. In this case the red ones are safe, just unripe
source: have eaten a lot of wild blackberries in my time
