you remembered this piece in a nicer way than i did, for me it was sort of horrifying - less "teaches you to live with its flaws" and more "subtly conditions you to avoid vast regions of action space without you noticing"
but I still suffer the pain

so now I have to pick up a whole new tool and learn a whole new way of moving and resizing my windows, grumble grumble. i have keyboard shortcuts that map onto my gaming mouse and I have to change all of that. grumble grumble.
