I barely know anything about these 2 in specific, but I think, on some level, the fundamental mistake was civilization. It distanced us from our natural instincts, made us v bored and v unanchored, and we've since been going around optimising/revolutionising everything around us.
industrial revolution was a big mistake, shouldn't have done it. Agricultural revolution depends on where you live & who you are. It was fine for some and destroyed others.
