I used to think it was important to evangelize the value of big interconnected families to the libs. I thought if you showed them the joy inherent in these family interactions they might come around. It turns out they just sort of resent you and double down.

they resent you because they can’t join you. showing them a happy family they *aren’t a part of* is just teasing them with what they feel like they can’t have. nobody likes that. you need to show them that *they* can have it and you do that by inviting them into it
