the sandbox is a place where kids enact their innate impulse to change the world without anything actually changing and I wonder how much of children's frustration is due to how their urge to modify is always thwarted and reverted

Note, also, that (2) implies a _single_ game can teach ♾ lessons! An obvious example is Minecraft. There's resource-management, forward planning, architectural sensibility, etc. But also: it's Turing complete! Meaning MC contains every other game—and *possible thought*! 🤯

sure, i like minecraft a lot. but it kinda sucks that children (and adults) have desires to shift around physical reality that are thwarted in a million ways and minecraft may be where those desires have to get shunted to
