hmm so i had a shot of J&J a few months ago but i’m spooked enough now that i want to supplement with a shot of pfizer / moderna. before i try to make this happen anyone wanna tell me if it’s a terrible idea? (i can pretty easily afford to recover for at least a few days)

If you received the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine, you're eligible to drop into the vaccination clinic at SF General Hospital and get a "supplemental" mRNA vaccine dose.

Yeah few days recovery is vastly over-exaggerated.
If you're willing to accept that much cost, then the cost-benefit analysis tilts overwhelmingly in favor of just getting a booster

I've heard mixing like that might make it trickier when we do get a booster out, but I haven't looked into that at all.

It’s a good idea (not sure about a third shot, but a second shot is clearly worth it)

If you get the moderna shot plan on being miserable for a couple days, but it’s s good excuse to watch Netflix
