i really appreciate it that while twitter is mixed company wrt math/stats like the scene described here everyone embraces being aggressively dumb and if they want to know what a math tweet means they say "english nerd" and people generally deliver and no one feels bad

this pitch has a specific effect on people who consider themselves to know enough math / CS to reason about what AIs can and can't do, and a very different effect on people who are... i don't have a nice way to say this... insecure about their intelligence
