it's a bit tricky. from their pov you're a rando who was selected for having an extremely unusual and relevant story and most of those stories really do turn out to be exaggerations or lies etc. from my pov you're a friend. i genuinely have much stronger evidence than they do

Also, I can find a hundred anecdotal reports from people on how <insert alternative medicine here> cured their <insert disease here>. Almost none of them are *lying* but the placebo effect feels the same as a real effect from the inside. And coincidences do happen.
