one of my least favorite things about social media is posts which present themselves as advice but are dripping with disgust and contempt for the people they’re supposed to be advising

i like outright declarations of disgust and contempt a lot more because at least they’re not trying to bullshit me. bullshit, on the other hand? disgusting and contemptible imo

Are you advising people to not publish those posts? How do they make you feel?

And I often also see where they are coming from. They may have some pain and inflict pain, with "best" intention.
If the viewpoints are too far apart I don't see any way to close this gap on social media.
It is not worth my energy.
I have to create the environment I want.

When I'm feeling strong and come across such a post, I can sometimes transform it into a reflection prompt.
Which aspect of the message get some part of me to judge it so strongly?
What do I project into the other person?
Can I feel compassion for them?
