any of y'all who do a lot of therapy-type stuff or meditation-type stuff find that you've become more sensitive to alcohol (in a bad way)? other foods too maybe?
Conversation
i tried drinking a few shots of whiskey a month or so ago for the first time in awhile and it was just awful. didn't really get buzzed and my body felt like i was poisoned for days afterwards. the set and setting weren't particularly good though idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

belated apology to the rationalists i used to make fun of for not drinking enough at parties

hey, i mean, i've always meditated before it was a Thing - and, yeah, i honestly despise intoxication because it makes me feel like reality is decohering and that all individuals intoxicated become temporarily exceedingly unreliable narrators of their experience

I guess I'm curious as to whether or not you anticipated them starting to drink after your comments? It seems... unlikely to have been effective.

I always thought I was a cheap date and/or couldn’t handle my liquor, but it turns out my whole family is sensitive to EVERYthing. And I legitimately hate the feeling of being more than 2 drinks drunk.

Uhh any chance this is an Asian-specific thing? Like, you could have been intolerant to alcohol before and only now you notice it?

did you expect them to *enjoy* drinking? Drinking isn't about enjoyment it's a challenge.
