any of y'all who do a lot of therapy-type stuff or meditation-type stuff find that you've become more sensitive to alcohol (in a bad way)? other foods too maybe?
Conversation
i tried drinking a few shots of whiskey a month or so ago for the first time in awhile and it was just awful. didn't really get buzzed and my body felt like i was poisoned for days afterwards. the set and setting weren't particularly good though idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

belated apology to the rationalists i used to make fun of for not drinking enough at parties

Both I would say. Especially alcohol tho. It’s not that it effects me more per se. it’s more that the negative effects are extremely obvious to me now, and when I think of drinking I envision the negative effects much more.

Whisky is not a chill drink. Red wine for that. Whisky is a get amped and battle/fight. Depression ensues if you just sit there without action to fixate on. Blood always rushes to the distal limbs on whisky for me triggering the need to do something.

The last time I drank whisky without action to attend to or watch I started hammering bike locks at 4AM. I already have a bike. It’s ridiculous.

I've definitely felt that. Therapy/focused introspection is designed to bolster your sensitivity toward yourself, and to me, alcohol is the chemical equivalent of a flaming brand to that sensitivity. It's a cheap fun that whittles away my internal sharpness for blunt animalism.
