huh this makes perfect sense to me now and it didn't used to. one of them wanted the thing to work badly enough that it worked and the other one wanted the thing to not work badly enough that it didn't right? 😅

yeah, that's pretty much how I'd interpret this. another piece too is that psi believer probably has some form of telepathy/vibe-at-a-distance training (likely accidental if he's a scientist), whereas mr. skeptic has never had a reason to even try

so there's also an element of technique/training, but which you'd certainly never acquire if you actively disbelieve in it in the first place, of course
