not to play the fucking race card but this is a great example of what feels 100% fake to me about the recent wave of support for asian-americans. i didn't mention this in the thread but obviously the fact that my parents and i are chinese is a huge part of the picture here

hm looks like the first tweet was a bad tweet, i did a really bad job of saying what i meant. i mean it's relevant to the story that chinese parents give you money as their way of showing they care and it's relevant that i grew up basically american and didn't absorb that

I appreciate your honesty. For me I felt I could have made it further with more help but I also know it can be a curse. Not there yet but also thinking about how to strike the balance with my own kids and hearing your perspective helps.

and then you throw that in other peoples faces by saying you were given more money than most of us will ever see and then say you resent your mother for it. Tell your mother how much you resent her for loving you and chasing her dreams of making enough money so you never have to.

He really could have just said “a lot of money” and the thread might have meant something but couldn’t pass up the humble brag lol

I do wonder what it'll be like for my kids. It's certainly been a really interesting few threads, from my POV. I've realised I'm simply used to existing with less money and some financial insecurity. It's like ah, I know how to be happy with less, but not with more.

Oh, fuuuuck you. I initially almost felt bad about the reaction because more wealthy people should admit their privileged backgrounds and that they didn’t get there through merit but weaponizing racial issues to play the victim when this has nothing to do with that is disgusting.
