I was having this exact discussion with my therapist this week like what I'm dealing with now I keep caveatting as "not that bad", and they really weren't that bad but there was just *a lot* and it were *all over the place* and *confusing* so it still adds up to *issues*

i sort of regret using the word "trauma" so much on twitter in the past, i ran into friction as a result which i think partly came from assuming "trauma" involves really *bad* experiences. the thing i want(ed) to talk about is more about really *confusing* experiences

And my therapist commented that in attachment theories, *inconsistent* parenting produces worse outcomes of all (even compared to consistently bad parents) At least bad parents are predictable

I mean disorganised attachment is theorised to come from inconsistent caregivers, right? You literally don't know what to do anymore because everything you learn is also wrong sometimes So you shut down and give up on the real world and get ADHD or similar

I'm now wondering if the modern world in its sheer wild information-overload unpredictability is contributing to children being more easily traumatised-in-this-sense
