screenshots are an outrageously load-bearing part of modern internet infrastructure currently the best way to port posts between sites even though it makes their text unsearchable and doesn’t generate a link back to original this is dumb and we should be able to do better

you are completely correct but it's kinda beautiful how we exapted the most low-tech feature there is into a flexible and essential piece of infrastructure at internet scale
