yeah, when I was 5 or 6 I would be up all night with my legs hurting

fwiw mayo clinic says there’s “no evidence” (although god only knows what that means) that growing pains have anything to do with growth

i super had them in my femurs and shins

huh!
I suspect it at least has something to do with it indirectly since I remember it being pretty acute pain just before growth spurts
doesn't have to be actual pain due to bone stretching
could even be intense discomfort from body map rejiggering
