Wish I could give advice but my main experience is with my wife.
I'd just read Parasite Rex and just told her lots of horrifying things about parasites in between customers (we we cashiers) and she asked for my Facebook at the end of the shift.

I want to say this is nonstandard? But maybe it's just enthusiasm, going out of my way to talk to her, and the fact that we were already attracted to each other, and it doesn't matter too much the details?

I like this story as well because there's a shade of the negative story QC framed initially: if not creepy, annoying. Seeing things here like "Gawd if I hear another guy talk at me about history (or parasites, or david foster wallace, etc.)" Not room in those takes for enthusiasm

Right, the combination of enthusiasm with clear willingness to disengage if it's not wanted goes a long way on these things I think
Could easily have been annoying or creepy in slightly different context
