This book is about a form of Chinese natal astrology called Ziwei Doushu. It is one of the most complex-- and i daresay the most interesting, as it is the only form of Chinese astrology practised today that is vaguely horoscopic in nature.

i.e. it still retains the 12 houses, like western astrology; most other forms of Chinese astrology no longer use them. Here's a chart cast in this system

This arrangement of the 12 earthly branches is also used in horoscopes in the Ziwei doushu 紫微斗數system. The earthly branches->signs stay in the same position, whilst the houses are shifted about. This horoscope incidentally belongs to Chow Yun-fat, an actor.
