i accidentally ordered some congee that was too plain help how do i make it taste better???
i tried adding some garlic powder but that only feels like it’s addressing the “periphery” not the “body” of the flavor. ideally i guess i should add meat and veg of some sort

pork floss would be truly nostalgically ideal (h/t ) but i’ve never seen it in the US. chinatown maybe?

I personally like a combination of butter/soysauce/sesame oil on -- well -- basically anything, but especially porridges like congee and oatmeal

White pepper powder is the classic. Black pepper might work if you don't have white pepper.

Maybe picked vegetables if you have any.
