Update on this: old people are based, and it's weird and unnatural that many of us now live mostly without ever being around young children or old people effects I've been noticing: - viscerally understanding that I'm on a life "path" and will eventually be where they are now

A few things: - It's really nice to see the same faces every week, and I like hearing these weekly updates (I think the prayer puts me particularly in a mood to hear about others' lives) - I kinda missed seeing old people, and it feels important to hear about their lives

- but I'm also still young and strong and beautiful and vibrant, and should cherish that - they express gratitude freely, especially for good weather, good health, and flowers - my problems are actually small and ephemeral. I have my health; kids are healthy and happy

- they talk really openly about things they're struggling with or have struggled with, or things that made them sad, and how they made meaning of those experiences - they find things beautiful and then share them intentionally with others

I can't quite articulate yet how important this "seeing myself as on a life path" part feels... but also like: people these days (esp if you are only ever around childless 22-35 yos) are alienated from their own aging process, or development as an adult

Yeah, I really recommend it! I am positive that you will find some in your area-- they're probably still doing online meetings so you might need to email someone rather than show up! (That worked well for me though; I'd have been more nervous to just show up in person.)
