anyway all of this discoursing about gender stuff sure has been an amazing distraction from doing my taxes

there's just feelings everywhere it's outrageous. i tried poking around into why i hate doing taxes and a big part of it might be that when i had an NSF grant the NSF refused to give us advice about how to file it on our taxes and i hated not knowing if i was doing it right

i had to file my NSF grant on my taxes the first 5-6 years i had to file my own taxes at all and i did it probably 3 different ways over those years and i still don't know which one was right

fucking ridiculous situation. it's like the government assigned me homework and refused to teach me how to do it and *also* refused to tell me what my grade was but i'm still legally on the hook for failing somehow???

I've often wished I would get audited just so I would know if I was doing my taxes right 😅 Although I've discovered the IRS will send you a letter saying they made corrections if they spotted any -- incorrect SS#, even if I forgot to add a 1099 apparently.
