Have you ever learned to play a game from a book or an article?
Which one? How did you do it? Why did you learn it from reading something, and not any other way?

not exclusively books, but when i was into go i read a lot of go books and they were very helpful. go has a really steep learning curve initially and books introduce a ton of useful non-obvious concepts for thinking about how to play in the various stages of the game
go books also have a lot of exercises which is great, and i read them electronically in an app where you could play the exercises in the book (each one is a little board that the app treats as a game board) which was really convenient. everything should be like this

Same experience with go, especially because there was next to no one around to play with when I learned
Nowadays there are lots of good english language video resources for learning go too
