oof this gives me feels bc ooh that this has been frustrating for you makes total sense but otoh there's this scary factor for me wrt how stifling it would be if women were only allowed to talk about gendered exp if they're 100% only something women exp, feels v spooky

yeah tbc i am not suggesting any kind of rule or policy here, i am registering a bunch of feelings! i don't want women to not be able to talk about their problems either! i just also want to be able to talk about mine and have them acknowledged!

yeah that makes sense, I think it can just be like, confusing in a culture that already has so much gaslighting and sensationalizing around oppression. It's hard to know how anyone can express themselves fairly.

generally speaking i am in favor of pretty much maximum permission to talk about things but ofc the trick from there is figuring out how to sensitively deal with the huge tangle of feelings that produces. there's genuinely a lot of important stuff at stake
