I wonder if the reason we have so much etiquette around pretending humans don't have (surprisingly informative!) scents is to avoid devastating teenage girls when they get their periods and still feel like the world might end if anyone finds out

in middle school i used to volunteer at the library with a girl i thought was cute and/but sometimes she smelled bad and i never knew how to talk about it. it was a very specific smell i have since smelled like ~10 other times, always on women
was it... period smell???
