i think this kind of thing really depends a lot on attachment style actually. one of the hallmarks of secure attachment is a coherency of self that's genuinely less of a thing for the other styles esp. disorganized

anxious attachers learn early on to present a "false self" b/c that's what they need to do to be cared for adequately - there's genuinely a huge difference between people who needed to do this growing up and people who didn't (although ofc it's a spectrum)
disorganized attachment can cause dissociative identity disorder (or, at milder levels, being the sort of person to whom internal family systems applies strongly) - fragmentation of self is a big thing with it

This characterization sounds rather weird. IFS "applies strongly" to a lot of people without any dissociation or attachment issues. Often more so, as it can be easier for them to see the parts than for people with severe dissociation.
