I think there's this flawed set of beliefs that kids require a lot more money and a lot more sacrifice than they actually do

Speculation:
I think it's hard to know how natural it can feel to have kids around if you never have kids around
it does mean some cultural changes for it to feel so natural
so then when people who haven't been around kids much start having them...

it strikes me that growing up, with the notable exception of my mother, i was never aware of any parent saying they were glad of their decision to have kids.

I grew up with a lot of love and an awful lot of people trying very hard to have more kids
it was just so normal
and my parents told me all the time how much they liked having me around
kids seemed very wanted
there was the cultural bitching-about-kids thing but

i don't have the energy to develop into this whole rant but generally i think american society age segregates to an outrageous degree and we would have a lot more normal attitudes towards having kids if we just saw babies way more often, ambiently, socially

i personally have probably spent a grand total of like 1 hour, since i was 10, around children 5 years old or younger?
that's wack. that doesn't make any sense at all
that is wild. babies are great. wish i could just go to some kind of nursery and get my oxytocin.

god i remember one time abt 5-6 yrs ago my dad called me up "hey wanna babysit a dozen+ <2yo babies w some others for a few hours?" and i was like YES and my god it was heaven 😍

overall I think it's fucked up that we lock kids in prisons all day. it is not only bad for them. it is really bad for us olds because we dont get to see kids running around all day. this is spiritually emaciating

Baby moon is the first baby I have ever held.
I am very awkward around children because I was never around someone significantly younger than me.
Some of my previous desire to never have kids was the adults around me made it seem like a bother and a chore to have kids

I think it's also significant that having several kids is now primarily something you see from people who are broke, trashy, too irresponsible to take a pill every day
and they often seem miserable but it's more about the factors that led to their numerous kids, not the kids
