oof okay dumb practical q. i cracked the screen of my ipad recently and it still works but i'm a little worried that when i touch the cracks i might be embedding really small pieces of glass into my skin without noticing... anyone know how likely this is? should i just replace?

i'd get it fixed, i remember having a shattered screen on a rectangle once and there definitely were little flakes of glass coming off; and it's possible that your cracks might get worse over time

Glass embed is unlikely. But what you want to do is find a Brown Dudes Apple Repair somewhere. They will fix the hell out of it for cheap. Ask around.

seconding the screen protector or filling the cracks with superglue, in my experience screen glass flakes in a mostly harmless way.

Too late for a screen protector at this point; they are great for keeping glass specks in place if informed before screen break
I've had 5 years of mileage with 3M clear tape on my iPad mini 2 ... but that was a corner crack

I'd still advise getting it replaced, and get a screen protector for the new screen.
